2014-2015
Venue: Ambika P3, London & Tromsø Kunstforening, Norway, 2015
‘Latent Architecture’ provides a first opportunity to see major new works that offer a timely investigation into the social aspects of living environments manifested in both art & architectural contexts. Basing itself upon these 2 interlocking elements, it will adopt a cross disciplinary approach to creating works that lead to a socially engaged practice.
This important exhibition brings together 4 progressive/renowned practitioners (UK, Russia, Slovenia, Norway) to collectively critique our living environment & processes/relationships that influence this. Each artist's interdisciplinary practice has enabled them to develop heightened responses to a complexity of issues surrounding key questions of ‘how we build’, ‘how we build communities’, ‘how we use social spaces.'
The exhibition relevantly highlights the growing discourse surrounding the blurring of disciplines between art & architecture - what happens when the terms shift & dissolve; what the relationship is between art & architecture, questioning the conditions under which both are made. Creating a new kind of architecture & art.
